Even Better Than The First...

Here Comes The Bride was the perfect sequel to Save the Date. Oh My Goodness. Aidan gets even better in this installment of The Modern Arrangements Trilogy. He shows his sensitive and vulnerable side, and I am a sucker for a vulnerable man. The Author had me believing one thing through the whole book only to surprise me at the end. I also like the way she develops her minor characters as well - they are fun and believable. Though Aidan and Lilli were clearly the hero and heroine, Ms. Grubor's other characters were the perfect addition to make this feel like an ensemble cast of players.

Here Comes The Bride is a well-told story and very unique. I still think it should be Number 1 on the Bestseller lists (read my review of Save the Date). It's that good of a story. I cannot wait for the third book.

Terrific!!

What a great 2nd book!! The relationship between Aidan and Lilly continues to develop and with it our favorite characters have to learn to live, love and forgive each other. What a fantastic way to show us that marriage is a complex mechanism bound to bring two people closer as they learn more and more about one another amidst ups and downs. Because, lets face it, that's the way married life is!!
Can't wait for Book 3 to come out and see what the future has for Lilly and Aidan!!

Better than the first book

Yes, this story does get better with each book, this is not your steamy erotic novel, but it is a good book. It has just enough of steamy to make it exciting. I definitely recommend this book. Remember that this is a series and this is the 2 nd book in the series.

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator is the thinly disguised biography of Jesse Livermore, a remarkable character who first started speculating in New England bucket shops at the turn of the century. They have also discovered that its trading advice and keen analyses of market price movements ring as true today as in 1923. Jesse Livermore won and lost tens of millions of dollars playing the stock and commodities markets during the early 1900s—at one point making the thenastronomical amount of ten million dollars in just one month of trading. Whatever happens in the stock market to-day has happened before and will happen again. I've never forgotten that. I suppose I really manage to remember when and how it happened. The fact that I remember that way is my way of capitalizing experience."

2- "It takes a man a long time to learn all the lessons of all his mistakes. They say there are two sides to everything. But there is only one side to the stock market; and it is not the bull side or the bear side, but the right side. It took me longer to get that general principle fixed firmly in my mind than it did most of the more technical phases of the game of Stock speculation."

3- "If the unusual never happened there would be no difference in people and then there wouldn't be any fun in life. The game would become merely a matter of addition and subtraction. It would make of us a race of bookkeepers with with plodding minds. It's the guessing that develops a man's brain power. Just consider what you have to do to guess right."

9- "The weaknesses that all men are prone to are fatal to success in speculation--usually those very weaknesses that make him likable to his fellows or that he himself particularly guards against in those other ventures of his where they are not nearly so dangerous as when he is trading in stocks or commodities. The speculator's chief enemies are always boring from within. It is inseparable from human nature to hope and to fear. In speculation when the market goes against you you hope that every day will be the last day--and you lose more than you should had you not listened to hope--to the same ally that is so potent a success-bringer to empire builders and pioneers, big and little. And when the market goes your way you become fearful that the next day will take away your profit, and you get out--too soon. Fear keeps you from making as much^money as you ought to. The successful trader has to fight these two deep-seated instincts. He has to reverse what you might call his natural impulses. Instead of hoping he must fear; instead of fearing he must hope. He must fear that his loss may develop into a much bigger loss, and hope that his profit may become a big profit. It is absolutely wrong to gamble in stocks the way the average man does."

A trader gets to play the game as the professional billiard player does--that is, he looks far ahead instead of considering the particular shot before him. Great Speculator Or Gambling Addict?

This is a historical fiction that follows the real life of Jesse Livermore, one of the greatest stock/commodity traders in U.S. history. I highly recommend that you read this in conjunction with the biography of Jesse Livermore. You need to have both perspectives to understand the whole person. .

While there is much to learn from Livermore's investing rules, his life is more like a Shakespearean tragedy. He was obsessed with stock trading and speculation, to the point of addiction. With great personal discipline, he mastered the art of taking big risk for a gigantic reward. However, his personal life was a mess that led to his downfall and suicide. His personal life was in many ways the exact opposite of his stock trading life: no rules, no discipline, no insight, and lavish living with no limits. Overall a very sad story.

"Fear keeps you from making as much money as you ought to"

I have reviewed a few books and had some reservations about reviewing "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" because there are hundreds of positive reviews out there already for this book. After all, this is the bible of stock trading. Only a complete amateur, or total beginner would trade in the stock market without reading this book first!

I will try to keep this review short. Basically, if you are going to trade, you need to understand how the market works and how the market is manipulated. Strong-hands (mutual funds, hedge funds, very large private investors, small countries, etc ) will always try to buy quietly during periods of low activity in a stock. When they have accumulated their line, they then start to show action in the stock and cause the price to rise. They run it as high as they can, getting the weak-hands (average investors, smaller investment groups, stupid hedge funds, etc) to buy this stock. Then the strong-hands start to unload (distribution) at a great profit. They then start shorting the market and profit from the stocks inevitable decline. Then they look for the next target stock and start all over again.

This book was written about 80 years ago and the game has remained the same. Because even though the names change, and the products offered change, the psychology of human emotions remains unchanged. Humans are ruled by fear and greed. As long as that is true, a select few who completely understand themselves and control their emotions will always take the money from the huge masses that let fear and greed control them.

I just finished reading this book for the third time in four years and I picked up many ideas from it. This book is a classic and as you learn and experience more in the markets, when you read it a second or third, or twentieth time you will pick up more and understand the markets more.

Some people say Jesse Livermore was a failure because he died broke and killed himself in a restaurant bathroom. Forget the way he died, learn from the way he lived. He started poor, worked hard, and made a fortune. Only to lose that fortune when he strayed from his trading rules. Then he made the money back, lost it again, and repeated that cycle a few times. This was a man that understood the market and understood human psychology. You can learn from his lessons and from his mistakes.

If you trade, or are thinking of trading or investing, READ THIS BOOK.

Another reason to read this book is to finally learn where most of the quotes used in the financial markets come from. 80 years old and we are still using the timeless wisdom of this book on a daily basis. I know I do, I trade price action and one of the reasons I understand it is because of this book.

About the Author

Andrew W. Wood is a professor in the Brain and Psychological Sciences Research Center at Swinburne University of Technology. Dr. Wood was recently a member of the radiation health committee of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency and the secretary and registrar of the Australian Radiation Protection Accreditation Board. His research interests include the health effects associated with nonionizing radiation, cellular neuroscience, fluorescence microscopy, and mathematical modeling.

Riddled with errors - do NOT recommend

I never write reviews, but this textbook is so terrible that I feel I must present my concerns to anyone who may make the mistake of purchasing it.

This claims to be a textbook with clear descriptions on biophysics. The three main points of my complaint are that the examples are not pertinent to the text, countless important specific details are omitted and, most glaringly, there are an egregious amount of mathematical and typographical errors.

I speak on behalf of my entire class. We have used this textbook throughout this semester at NYU. The shocking amount of mistakes in this book have prompted us to make a sincere request to our professor that it be removed from the required reading list.

Not impressed. Ambiguous book with ambiguous title.

This book has no clear audience, and the title is anything but creative. While it does have nice mathematical coverage of many important topics in medicine, the author does not derive the equations, nor does he spend much time explaining where they came from. I spent more time on Wikipedia trying to understand how he came up with his equations than I did actually reading the book.

Maggie Ryan creates a wonderful story set back in time during the heights of the Oregon Trail. Great attention to detail makes you feel as if you are experiencing what might have happened back then. I really liked Anna - she was feisty at first, willing to speak her mind and able to overcome what could have been a very damaging event. Richard was loving to Anna, supportive, but also overly strict. He told her and her father many times that he loved a woman with fire and spirit, yet every time she showed some spirit, she was scolded or punished. Richard also didn't care that he embarrassed or humiliated her in public. I felt that the Anna we saw at the beginning of the story was very different from the Anna on their journey. She was rarely spirited except when "sassying" Richard, and never seemed able to offer her thoughts or opinions. There were many touching moments between the couple, but his excessive punishments and inability to allow her some feistiness took some of that away for me. 3.5 Stars

Learning to be a pioneer.........from young girl to wife and mother.

This was the story of Anna and Richard. Anna , a young 18 year old girl, married to a childhood love.
They marry and then travel to their new home on the west coast. It is a long journey where Anna
learns what it means to be a pioneer. She also learn how to please her husband sexually. There are
spankings throughout. Some of the spankings are with paddle and belt and strap. She is switched.
All of these spankings are for putting herself at risk or for sassing or doing things a young 18 year old
would do. Anna has to really grow up during the journey. It has a happy ending. There are a lot of graphical sexual
scenes and a lot of spankings, some deserved and some not so.

Punished Pioneer

I almost gave this book a 2 star rating but Maggie Ryan is a gifted writer. Let me explain. This story started very well, a page turner. I love both Characters Richard and Anna. They are a lovely passionate couple. The problem I had was the overly harsh punishments. I have never considered myself a feminist, however when someone continues to spank,paddle and switch someone, sorry but I could not continue to tell them I deserved it and how much I loved them. Richard loved the fact that Anna was feisty but I thought he was trying to break her spirit. When her bottom was too raw to spank he started on her legs and knew that her wool socks would cause a terrible itch and then after soaping her mouth asked if she would like to pick berries to help rid her mouth of the taste. I know divorce was not allowed but I would have strongly considered it. Again, Maggie Ryan is gifted and I love this type of genre but just too much punishment.

Grace felt something special with Chase, like she was home safe. This is the story of that weekend and beyond. Are the feelings real? Do they go both ways? Will she be able to get the mob jerk off her back or will he target Chase also? A wonderful well written read.

Lovely story. Very sexy and intense. I love fake boyfriend stories and this was a lot of fun. A good billionaire that was not a controlling jerk. Highly recommended.

Katherine Havener is a natural and attachment parenting advocate, attorney, and mother to three beautiful girls. A lovely and thoughtful read for co-sleeping families wishing to nightwean!

I am currently 3 months pregnant with my second baby, and still nursing my 2 1/2 year toddler. However, nursing through pregnancy, specifically at night, was becoming increasingly painful and difficult. It was time for the 24 hour all-you-can-eat snack bar to come to a close! Well, we are on night FIVE... My 2 1/2 year old is now night weaned and SLEEPING THROUGH 11+ hours!!! This book has been a glorious accompaniment to our gentle night weaning plan, and is my daughter's current favorite read! Now, I am only waking once a night to pee and to snack (thank you, baby en utero), but hey, at least it is no longer 4 times a night to twilight feed my toddler! THANK YOU! :)

Beautiful book!

Where do I even begin to write about what a beautiful book this is? First of all, I love that it is a breastfeeding book for children. If you have ever tried to find a children's breastfeeding book, there aren't that many choices. Secondly, it is written simply, yet eloquently. Katherine uses simple phrases and words that your child will understand. Night weaning can be a difficult process and this book puts the process into words a child can understand. Third, it is written from a loving perspective. No talk of crying or any being left alone. And finally, the illustrations are stunning. They are wall-worthy! The last photo will bring tears to your eyes. Oh, I also like that the child is not gender specific, so you don't have to worry that it is for a boy or girl, it is for all children.

Overall, a must have book for any family with breastfeeding children!

I agree with the others that this is a really nice book, but "Daddy" does figure prominently in it so if you don't bed share with your partner this will be confusing (it was for us cause we don't bed share with Daddy). My child liked "milkies in the morning" the best of all the books we tried.

Yep, this is the guide....

This easy to read and understand book is THE essential guide to understanding & implementing Google Analytics. I do not consider myself a very technical person yet I have built a few ecommerce sites with Wordpress & platforms like Shopify & Bigcommerce. While you do get some basic analytics with these types of sites, nothing can compare with Google, particularly when it comes to integration with mobile apps, youtube, and customized user data. The problem that this guide solves is in making Google Analytics very easy to understand for anyone & the included screenshots help tremendously for visual learners. The info presented here is both comprehensive and succinct outlined in a way that the average person can easily grasp.

I was able to move through this book fairly quickly without getting bogged down with too much technical terminology. There are some suggested resources to add to the info including the Analytics Academy, Universal Analytics, The Interface Map, etc. which supplement the guide and are absolutely essential to getting started. I find that the information in this integrations book far surpasses the info I have found on the web, which has often has left me with more questions than answers on many occasions, and yes....a great deal of frustration! One simply cannot compare taking hours to find the right answer to a fundamental problem online to having a guide available to answer any question that might (most likely WILL) come up in using Analytics.

Subjects covered in this book include; Implementation & Best Practices, Customizing Your Code, Setting Up The Analytics Interface, Tagging Your Inbound Traffic, AdWords Integration, AdSense Integration, MobileApps Integrations, Webmaster Tools, YouTube Intergration, Custom & Custom Data Integrations, User Data Integration, Marketing Campaign Data Integration, A/b Testing Data Integration, Email Data Integration, and Offline Data Integration.

I personally have gotten the most out of the marketing campaign & email data integration chapters since I am not yet at the point of using Adsense & Adwords for my sites. I mention this because I had first assumed this book dealt primarily with those channels, and I was wrong. This guide is intended for all levels of users of Google Analytics and you can easily skip to the chapter that's most relevant for your usage. The author also makes himself available to answer questions should Google decide to change/upgrade info in addition to the tips provided here, and that's downright handy. Highly recommended!

A great guide to the free, comprehensive Google Analytics platform

This is a very interesting read. Since it's written by a current Google employee, it gives insight into the Google analytics platform in the context of Google's intentions. I use Google analytics in addition to a tool that I host on my servers, Piwik. The numbers from Piwik and Google never agree. Google always shows more users. This is interesting since the Javascript for both are located one after the other in my footer. However, exact numbers is much less important than trends and page popularity, entry, and exit pages.

This book explained exactly how Analytics integrations, the combination of pre- and post-visit activities can help improve site performance. There is much in this book that goes way past my interest in site analytics, but if you have a site that produces revenue, this book and the very robust Google platform provide help in building traffic and revenue.

The book itself is well organized and it is easy to go directly to the topic of interest. While it's true that the Google help pages provide the same information, just having it in convenient form organized for easy use is well worth the price. If you use Google analytics, even casually, you will get value from this book.

Just the Book I Needed

Google Analytics is the gold standard for web analytics, and arguably the best source of data on website performance.

This book is not for people who are new to analytics, but it begins with an excellent discussion of how -- and why -- to start with business goals, build key performance indicators, and plan how to collect and analyze data, as well as some thoughts about testing and getting buy-in from others in your organization. This plan is much better than merely poking around in your analytics and responding to the up and down arrows.

The first chapter has a number of other useful discussions on matters like tagging traffic, setting up your interface, and implementing tracking code. None of this is extensive, but it's enough for people who are fairly comfortable with Google Analytics and able to Google up the details.

The main part of the book tells yo how to integrate Google Analytics code with other things. It takes you through the official integrations, including Adwords, AdSense, mobile apps, Webmaster Tools, and YouTube. While all this information is available online, there is a lot to be said for having step by step instructions right in front of you as you work. The instructions are thorough and written in a generally non-technical manner, though you do need to be familiar with cncepts like destination URLs, paid search, etc.

Having covered the integrations which are available in Google Analytics, the book goes on to discuss how to do custom data integration. This section frequently refers readers to Google's own documentation, and you shouldn't expect to be able to follow the instructions if you don't know HTML. However, this is again more detailed and accessible than what you'll find in Google's instructions, which are directed to professional developers.

This is entirely a how-to book, not a book to enjoy reading on your porch. If you've had some frustrations with GA integrations, or wished you could do them yourself but didn't want to take a chance, this is exactly the book you need.
