About the Author
Dennis Fuqua (pronounced few-kway) has been the director of International Renewal Ministries since the year 2000 (www.prayersummit.net). Prior to that, he pastored for twenty-five years in Gig Harbor, Washington. In 1989 IRM (under the direction of Dr. Joe Aldrich) gave birth to the Pastors’ Prayer Summit movement. Now Dennis helps shepherd this movement, which has spread to at least forty states and over thirty nations. He has had the privilege of facilitating thousands of hours of corporate prayer in multiple-day Prayer Summits, congregations, classrooms, at retreats, and many other settings. These opportunities have given him a unique experience and perspective which he shares in this book. His love for the Written Word and the Living Word has not only helped guide these times of prayer but also his life. He earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in ministry at Multnomah University, Portland, Oregon. He speaks often on the topics of individual and corporate prayer in congregations, conferences, classrooms, and retreats. His passion is to see the church relate best to God, itself, and to those who have not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ. He is a member of America’s National Prayer Committee and Mission America Coalition and serves as one of the coaches of their “Loving Our Communities to Christ” process. His articles have appeared in several magazines including Pray! Magazine and Prayer Connect. He is also the author of the 2010 book Living Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer Alive in You (www.livingprayer.net). Dennis and his wife, Marilyn, have four adult children and seven grandchildren. They live in Vancouver, Washington.

Facilitation of Prayer

This author is exceptionally gifted in the implementation of corporate prayer within any type of group. I've attended a Pastor's Prayer Conference where Dennis Fuqua taught, and he was great, so I was excited to find this book covering his teaching. I'm not disappointed. If every pastor, church leader, and intercessor read and put into practice his suggestions, our world would be turned around in short order. I HIGHLY recommend this book, if you have any interest in prayer at all!

Fuqua does a great job of practically and purposefully laying out the vision ...

Strange layout. The book is one large FAQ page you would find in 90's website. However, aesthetics aside, Fuqua does a great job of practically and purposefully laying out the vision and theology of communal prayer. After reading this book I have a entirely new imagination for leading group prayer.

Lost in the 70's

The authors present a new paradigm for organizations and nearly moves into new territory but chose to use leadership actions from the last century. The process reeks of transformational leadership principles - a "human" approach to lead the organization! Still linear and still mechanistic!

Further research would have led them into Complex Adaptive Systems, a truly human organization viewpoint. However, the authors chose to remain with the behavioral psychology of the 70's.

President Nixon was fond of saying that how history treats him depends on the writer. That Don Fulsom turned out to be one of those writers will not let Nixon rest in peace. For seven of Nixon frenetic years in the White House, Fulsom was at his elbow or at least within shouting distance. As a radio reporter for United Press International, Fulsom recorded almost every day of Nixon's actions along with answers to Fulsom's tough questions. Now, with the help of previously classified documents and tape recordings,Fulsom takes us inside the White House bubble where Nixon's Secret Plan to End the War meant 25,000 more dead Americans in the jungles of Vietnam. Nixon and that Harvard genius of foreign affairs, Henry Kissinger, should be forever judged on their failure to walk away from Vietnam, just a President Dwight D. Eisenhower did with the war in Korea. Oh, yes, the China diplomatic recognition. Insignificant compared to the carnage of between 1 and 2 million dead Vietnamese.

Excellent. A must for any Character TD.

I would have given more stars but 5 is the max. This has been a long awaited book that has been so needed for the Character TD community. This is more than a tutorial book, it's a step-by-step look into taking these principles and incorporating them into an already existing pipeline or creating a new robust one. This book is not for the faint at heart; this is an advanced book for sure. However, if you have a good working knowledge of Maya and Character setup, you will reap the rewards from this little gem. Great Job Brad, Joe and John.

A wealth of knowledge for character TDs!

This book is fantastic. Its structure and layout are well thought out and executed. The information is for any creature TD looking to improve their skillset and learn new approaches to common creature setup problems.

The book is a gateway to the knowledge base for the industry when it come to rigging concepts and approaches. There is so little information on rigging and this book fills the gap in a professional way.

The main rigging tutorial in this book is very poorly written. What should be a great learning experience becomes a lesson in silly extra long naming pratices that will obscure all the intellegence of the actual rigging process.....the physical size of the book limits the pictures to a decorative effect. No real information is passed by the pictures and they are not included in any of the download data available. The main structure of his rig gets lost in a series of asides and remarks that make following the authors rigging tutorial into a joke. Bearly 3 steps can be included before a page change. This makes checking your work very hard and tedious. The real content just gets lost as every description includes a joint name that borders on 5 prefixes followed by 5 suffixs. By the time you select the right joint you have lost the process he is trying to teach you. So the first 170 odd pages are an exercise in translating his verbose descriptions into something logical. The content is there, it is just poorly presented.

Luckily, there is more then just the one author on this one!

A great follow-up to Landfall!

Revolution continues the adventure that Aubin began with Landfall, and pulls us deeper into Zax's reality--now looking much less bright due to his decision to stand up to the Flight Boss after learning some very troubling secrets. In this volume we learn more about the civilian unrest on the Ship, and watch Zax as he struggles once again to determine which side the Flight Boss is really on. Another page turner! I can't wait for Book 3.

Creative, engaging YA sci fi

My son LOVED this book! He read Revolution (as well as Book 1 in the series, Landfall) in a matter of days - he couldn't put either book down. He's a science fiction junkie of all flavors - from Dune to Star Wars, he's read it all - and loved the plot, the characters, and the detailed writing. He thought the creativity of the ideas was cool and exciting, and said that the book is unlike any other book he's ever read before. Five stars!

Just read this for the language

If I had no visual on Stephen Fry and had to read this in braille, not only would my fingers be on fire but I could picture him in my head with ease. Whilst he uses words here and there that I wonder even exist, they are always in context and utterly in character. I mean, who can keep his readers' attention for over two pages describing filling, lighting and then inhalation of his pipe ? Soooo naughty, Stephen but then we did in those days, didn't we, as did my grandfather who fought in the trenches in WW1 and died aged 85 of his pipe. His writing is sensual, evocative and delicious, only occasionally running out of control to the point where I lost interest and skipped on. Don't think I have ever read any biography word for word, so this is no exception. But with Stephen, you can't skip too much or you will miss out on something major. He might ramble on a bit - nay, he does ramble on a bit - about the state of theatre in Cambridge but quick as a flash, there in one paragraph, he mentions when he "came out" as a gay man to his parents. Easily missed, the precision of the statement with his mother and father's wonderful responses will stay with me forever. What I love about Stephen Fry is that he is...........Stephen Fry. Candid, funny, erudite, this book enables us to learn more about one of the most entertaining and interesting artists of our time.

Infuriating & Endearing

I read this paperback copy with a happy, conspiratory feeling -- I had mine shipped from England for $0.77 and was gloating over the fact that no one else in the U.S. would have it yet. I am continually surprised by how little Stephen Fry is known here in general... I think he's a treasure of a human being, if certainly infuriating at times.

One blurb on the back cover says that "most readers will close this book and want to give it a hug." I can't think of an apter way to sum up the experience than that. Stephen exposes all of his quivering insecurity, stifling self-consciousness and second-guessing, embarrassments, longings, disappointments, and confusions about life. It takes enormous bravery to be this emotionally honest (especially, as he would be the first to point out, for an Englishman). This leaves him wide-open for ridicule and derision, but I felt nothing but tenderness toward Stephen Fry after reading his book. I've been a fan of him on the basis of his elocution, acting ability, and pure personality for a while; but this made me feel positively kindred toward the man. Even though I know nothing of his world, and grew up completely divorced from the culture he was steeped in, the things that he writes about resound with the most private, core aspects of human experience -- shame, uncertainty, and devouring desire.

So yes, he goes on a bit. The book is absurdly long-winded and apologetic, self-aggrandizing and sad. But Stephen always seems absolutely sure of what he wants to say, how he wants to say it, and why. That is enough of a thesis for me, and his style carries it away beautifully.

A great book with his soul bared -- even when tells you he won't gush, he does.

I love his writing and style as much as I love time period he covers. I just wish he'd stop being too critical of himself--or drop the false modesty, if that's what it really is. If it's genuine, I understand but does he need to display his identity angst for fear of being too much of showoff or not as talented, supposedly, as his colleague Hugh Laurie or Emma Thompson. I guess we do dislike, though, what we dislike in ourselves. Now he's got me doing it. A worthwhile read, all the same.
