Great Book, Great Series! A Must Read Author!
By GreatMomFinds
I haven't written a review on here in a very long time. I chose to on this book as this was the best series I have read in a long time (this is the 4th book in the series). I got the first book "The Game" as a free kindle book many months ago. I don't get a chance to read that often, and finally read "The Game" just over a week ago. Well I finished that in one sitting, reading into the wee hours of the morning, and had to continue on in the series. A week later I finished this book!
This series is better than great! I guess it would be classified as Sci Fi, which I actually don't normally read. Luckily I took a chance on the 1st in the series. Terry has developed a great World/setting in this series, and each book including this one just keeps building on what he set in the first book! I can't go into great detail as I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't read all the other books yet. I can say it is interesting to read of "Earth", with "Earth" being a virtual game that people play from their World called "Tygon". Most people while in a different reality don't realize that they are. On the other hand some do realize this, making it very interesting!
All his characters are well developed and he really brings you into their alternate "world". Everything Terry reveals to you has a purpose, something he told you before has more meaning later in the story. Some characters were introduced in the first book and others revealed as you become immersed in the story. They all fit perfectly into the story as they are added, some you realize just how so later on into the read. This book, like the others has surprises, and mystery. This book held me captivated right to the very end. Terry has a great imagination and an amazing story to share. You won't regret purchasing this and the others in the series. I was sad for it to come to an end. I secretly hope he will come back to this "world" after he takes a "break" writing different stories.
If you want to read an exciting, different, well developed story...THIS IS IT! You won't want to be interrupted while reading this book!

Loved the story, mixed about the ending.
By Amazon Customer
I have really enjoyed this entire series but this last book I was kind of "meh" about. Don't get me wrong, the story itself is just as strong in this one as the other three. It's very rare that I find a series that when it ends I'm NOT disappointed that it's ending because I want more of the story. But this story was just really well written from start to finish that while I was reading this last book and things were starting to get figured out and somewhat resolved that I was thinking to myself, "This is great. The story is bringing it all together and there won't be this wondering of what happened to characters or certain story arcs. I'm going to be okay with this ending." And then the ending came.
First it seemed that things at the end started being rushed. The main story arc is solid and not rushed but some of the side things I thought could have used a bit more clarification got tidied up in what seemed like a paragraph.
There was a question in the third book that gets raised and it gets mentioned briefly in this one but I don't think it's ever actually explained which is the dark smudge that is always seen around Brandon. This shouldn't be any kind of spoiler but was it the old man or was it something else completely. Unless I totally missed it, which could be possible, it was never really explained.
Then the ending, it just made me kind of sad. I sort of wish the Epilogue didn't exist, or I didn't read it. I could have been happy with the ending with just stopping there.
For one, as another reviewer has said, it's a semi-cliff hanger. Not a big cliff hanger, just enough where the reader can draw their own conclusion or if the author decides to revisit the story it's possible.
The other reason is that the ending involves a character from the third book that I created a certain picture about how that character works and how their personality was and loyalties lie and in basically two pages I felt like that whole image just got thrown out the window for me. I just really liked that character and for it be portrayed how I read it in the end was kind of a let down.
All in all, the series is fantastic. The third book is probably my favorite and if there was ever any additional stories created in this series I think I'd rather see a story arc that goes back and follows a character named Lohkam and his crew.

Not as good as the first three, boring at parts, ends well
By Suzanne Shopaholic
I couldn't wait to buy this book after reading the first three, but I was slightly disappointed. Well the first three books were interesting and new, this one felt like the author was just trying to wrap things up. Here are the main issues I had with the book:
- Lots of repetition - Characters kept explaining in detail things like... this is what is going to happen if our plan doesn't work, this is our plan, this is what happened here or there... blah blah blah. It seemed repetitive. For example sometimes a person would spell out "this is what is going to happen" and another character would repeat the same thing but in their own words.
- Not nearly as many twists and turns as the first 3 books. It became fairly predictable and obvious what would happen (for the most part). It wasn't until the end that there was a good twist.
- Got a bit cheesy when it came to the love story portion.
It started off well, and it ended pretty well with the possibility of a continuing story. I would like to see a 5th book based on the end of this book. As for the middle, it kind of felt like a TV series that got cancelled and just threw something together to wrap up the storylines.
I was close to rating this 4 stars, then I remembered how many times I felt like fast forwarding... In the previous three books I actually re-read paragraphs to keep up with the characters and events, especially after a shocking twist. In this book, I read every word once and just wanted to move on to see what happened. That's why I knock this down to 3 stars. It didn't make me say WOW or surprise me until a little bit at the end.
I still say you gotta read it if you read the other three, if only to know what happened. I would love if the author took a new stab at this to write a more exciting part 4, but I doubt that's going to happen. Hopefully the ending is going to lead to a 5th more exciting story... I'll be looking for it!
